Does Soy Milk Actually Make You Fat?
There are a number of different reasons why people may switch over to soy milk, that can include such things as dietary restrictions or allergies. Many people would like to be able to drink skim milk regularly because it provides some of the things that are necessary in order to assist us in weight loss, but there may be problems with lactose intolerance. Soy milk tends to be a rather viable solution to this, but there is also some discussion as to whether this type of milk is going to make you overweight or not. The answer to this may surprise you.
First of all, it is necessary for me to say that anything in moderation is not necessarily going to be bad for you and your weight loss efforts. The real difficulty comes whenever you do things to the extent where you overdo them, and this can also be true in the case of soy milk. Although soy milk has been shown in a number of different studies to help individuals to lose weight effectively, too much of it can easily put you over your overall daily calorie limit, and pack weight on you like crazy.
Something that many people tend to forget about losing weight is that calories do count. Yes, there are some ways that you can trick your body into burning additional calories by the food that you eat but at the end of the day, a calorie is still a calorie. If you eat more calories, or drink them as in the case of soy milk during the day than what you’re expending, your body is going to store the additional calories as fat. This is a scientific fact and there is no way of you getting around it, regardless of how you try to trick your body.
In a study that was done specifically on soy milk and its results were tested with a control group that was drinking skim milk, the individuals that drank the soymilk on a calorie reduced diet certainly did lose more weight than those who drank the regular milk. Although the taste of the milk tended to take a little bit of getting used to, the majority of them that drank it during the study continued to do so afterward because of the benefits of drinking it.
If you have a problem with drinking regular milk and you would like to be able to have the benefits of milk for weight loss, then using soy milk may be a good solution for you. It is readily available, contains plenty of protein and is a healthy solution for you, provided you don’t overdo it.
